The Rocks area in Sydney is a great place for wedding photos. There are numerous locations with views of the Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House, Luna Park, and not to mention the old world alley ways and buildings of the Rocks area. You also have the parks and outlook of Observatory Hill and Dawes Point Park, as well as being very close to the Botannic Gardens. Did someone say spolit for choice?!
We detail below a number of The Rocks photo locations.
The Sydney Opera House is an icon of Sydney and can make for a great backdrop for your wedding photos. The Opera House steps are lovely, but this area can be busy on weekends. Generally people will move away from an area if you ask nicely. Get up close for some interesting shots with the Opera House, and use it as a feature in the back ground for photos from around the Rocks area.
The outlook from Observatory Hill is wonderful, but there are plenty of other shots to be had in this area of the Rocks. The stone and trees of the park can be used for some great wedding photos, and there are often a few less people around.
The Domain is one of Sydney's great parks and there are a number of good spots for wedding photos. Mrs Macquarie's Chair is popular with views towards the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Also try the NSW Art Gallery for some great shots with the columns and old stone. In the Domain itself there are many garden areas to wander through and take some great wedding photos. There are an endless number of places to take photos, with a wide range of flora and fauna on display year round. Include the Harbour Bride and Opera House in the background, or use the Fleet Steps as a great sandstone backdrop for your photos. Be aware that certain areas may require a photography fee.
Dawes Point Park is right at the end of the Rocks, underneath the Harbour Bridge and so it has a number of views towards the Opera House, Luna Park, and the Harbour. Quite a popular place for shots looking up the Harbour Bridge, but is usually very shady in the afternoon.
Almost identical to Dawes Point Park this is an extremely popular place for wedding photos, so you might need to fight with the other bridal parties for a good spot!
Circular Quay is great for wedding photo locations if you have a nautical bent, but it is often crowded with tourists. Better to make the short walk to the Opera House and The Rocks area for some less crowded shots!
